Dune: Spice Wars, a hybrid 4X and real-time strategy game revealed by publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games at The Game Awards in December of last year in Steam, immediately piqued the interest of many. It helped, of course, that Dune is currently popular, but the game itself has appeared to be getting more and more interesting with each new trailer. Players will be able to get their hands on it and observe for themselves how it is shaping up in the meanwhile.
Dune: Spice Wars has been released in Early Access on Steam. The game’s current edition includes four playable factions: the Harkonnens, the Atreides, the Fremen, and the Smugglers. The game’s previous version included only one playable faction: the Smugglers. Complete political, surveillance, and warfare systems, as well as three different victory conditions, are also featured. While the game is in early access, which is planned to last for up to a year at this point, Shiro Games will introduce new features, balance modifications and feedback-based upgrades, among other things. The game’s early access period is expected to last up to a year.
