Microsoft currently has a slew of first-party games in development across its various studios (and that’s before the Activision Blizzard acquisition is done), with a number of them bringing back fan favorites that have been dormant for years. One of these is a Playground Games-developed reboot of Fable, and while official details on the game are still few, we do get some interesting development updates every now and then.
For example, Toby Haynes, who was previously the main character artist at Rare, just announced on Twitter that he has joined Playground Games as Character Lead on the upcoming Fable. Hynes worked on Sea of Thieves and the upcoming Everwild while at Rare. Hynes spent several years at SIE London Studio before joining Rare in 2020, where he worked on the PSVR project Blood and Truth.
As of tomorrow I will be starting a new chapter @WeArePlayground as Character Lead on a little game they are working on. #Fable #PlaygroundGames #XboxGameStudios #Xbox pic.twitter.com/5Uw3zbmPBy

Fable has reportedly been under development for quite some time, but it will be some time before it is released. According to leaks, the game will not be released until 2023; whether or not this means we won’t hear much about it this year remains to be seen.
