Endwalker is the most recent expansion for the game. We have, on the other hand, only received a few tidbits of information regarding Final Fantasy 14, the next flagship title in the brand that Yoshida is making. However, it is possible that it will launch this year despite being ruled out previously.
Because of the publication of Final Fantasy’s 35th-anniversary t-shirts in partnership with Uniqlo, Yoshida was interviewed for the company’s magazine for this month (as discovered on Twitter by @alberich ff14 ). A translation of the same was supplied by Reddit user MKillerby, in which Yoshida states that “Right now, the development of FF16 is at its last stage.”
For the single-player game, we want to merge the story and gameplay as much as we possibly can. At the same time, the extent to which a game has an individual emphasis affects how engrossed you are in the tale, in contrast to a game where many people play online at the same time. I believe it has developed into a story with a great deal of depth.
“To people who have grown up, entered working culture, and believe that reality isn’t as easy-going as a video game,’ and who have at some point found themselves separated from Final Fantasy, we want them to remember the excitement they had for the game when they were younger. “We’re designing the game with that goal in mind.” Check out the tweet below from Audrey, CEO/Founder of Aitai Japan, for a different translation that has roughly the same information as the one before.
Yoshida stated in December that the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak had caused the game’s release to be delayed by “nearly a half year.” Nonetheless, the next major revelation is expected to take place in Spring 2022. If everything goes according to plan, we might get a release date, if not a release window. Is it possible that Square Enix will unveil a new digital showcase in the next few weeks? Another possibility is an announcement at the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live show in June. Time will tell whether or not this is true.
Final Fantasy 16 is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, and it will be unique to that platform when released. Despite this, industry expert Piers Harding-Rolls predicted that it will be a full exclusive for six months (after which it will be available for PC) and a console exclusive for twelve months. As always, keep an eye out for additional information.
Yoshida Naoki says that FF16 is already in the final stages of development, and he says the story is a very well fleshed out one.
