The screenwriter said that Forspoken had a big budget. Allison Rymer sent out an interesting message that, given the poor sales, may show that Square Enix has some problems.
Forspoken was announced before the PlayStation 5 came out, and Square Enix pushed it as their first “next-gen” game. Sony was eager to get the word out about the game, but it didn’t get rave reviews and, according to recent reports, the Japanese aren’t happy with how well it’s selling. In the meantime, the studio that made the adventure has gone out of business.
Allison Rymer, who worked for Luminous Productions as one of the main screenwriters, could confirm that Square Enix has some problems. She also said that Forspoken cost more than $100 million to make.

This is a really big budget for a new IP that didn’t end up meeting its goals, so we can probably assume that Square Enix can’t talk about the unique profits from the launch of Forspoken, at least for now.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost $81 million, Gears of War 3 cost $48–60 million, Heavy Rain cost $52.2 million, and the first Watch Dogs game cost Ubisoft over $68 million. This information shows that Square Enix did not cut costs on the new IP.
