Since the release of Alyx Vance‘s adventure like a boomerang, the issue of playing production without dedicated hardware has returned. The modding team recently announced that they are already working on the final fixes, thanks to which you will be able to check the position without a VR headset.
Half-Life: Alyx debuted a few years ago, but it must be admitted that for many recipients it was a game that definitely changed the experience of playing in virtual reality. At one time, the popularity of the production influenced the interest in the VR department on Steam and increased the number of users reaching for the equipment. However, there were constant voices of recipients who wanted to get to know the excellent title in “traditional” circumstances.
As often happens, modders took matters into their own hands. The GB_2_ team has been working on an appropriate modification for a long time, thanks to which you can now check Half-Life: Alyx from start to finish without VR goggles. Remember, however, that the previously saved game states will not be compatible with the prepared files, and after playing the mod, we are not able to start playing with the virtual reality headset at the point where we have finished so far.
The creators inform that they are still focusing on fixes and improvements, introducing changes in the last stages of production, however, they encourage players to check the effects of their efforts.
With thousands of Half-Life Alyx NoVR players playing, we’re excited to announce our biggest update yet! True to its name, the entire game can now be played from start to finish with fully implemented Gravity Gauntlets and weapon upgrade devices.

Let us remind you that at the beginning of 2020, Tyler McVicker – the founder of Valve News Network – presented the game without VR goggles , using a pre-release build of the production. Valve developers, however, have repeatedly emphasized that without the right hardware, the title will not provide the right experience, and the gameplay will not be so satisfying.
