The free-to-play multiplayer component of Halo Infinite got off to a great start, but since its release, the player base has expressed dissatisfaction with a number of aspects of the game, and the fact that 343 Industries has been slower to respond to feedback than many would have liked hasn’t helped matters. One of the most commonly criticized features of the game has been its cosmetic customization, which has been reduced down to the game’s armor core system in particular.
The armor cores in Halo Infinite essentially serve as templates within which players can customize various aspects of their Spartan’s appearance. However, with the majority of cosmetic armour pieces in the game currently being restricted to a single core, it’s not surprising that a large section of the shooter’s player base has criticized it for being overly restrictive.
343 Industries, on the other hand, plans to phase out the system in the near future and replace it with something that provides significantly greater flexibility. Three-quarters of an hour into a recent stream devoted to the upcoming Season 2, 343 Industries stated that the armor core system is being retired.
Halo Infinite will begin allowing players to use all of their armor coatings, helmets, and visors across all armor cores at some point during Season 2 (which will run through November 7), with the exception of Fractured cores, which will remain exclusive due to their unique design. Other armor parts will be made available in the future, and they will be usable across all cores. Although 343 Industries has not yet stated when these modifications will be implemented, fans should be relieved to know that they are on their way regardless of when they are implemented.
Season 2: Lone Wolves will be released on May 3rd, and it will include new maps, new modes, and other improvements. A campaign co-op mode, as well as Forge, are both slated to be released this year, while leaks have strongly hinted that a battle royale mode is also in the works at support company Certain Affinity.
Halo Infinite is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
