In the wake of a successful launch that saw Halo Infinite garner over 20 million players and widespread acclaim from critics, 343 Industries’ shooter has struggled to gain traction, with a lack of new content and inconsistent communication from the developers leading to widespread dissatisfaction in the community. Halo Infinite will be trying to address some of these concerns in the near future with the release of Season 2: Lone Wolves, which will be released in a few months. It also appears that there is other new content in the works that have not been formally announced yet.
According to a report on Twitter by @Delta Hub, starting Halo Infinite in offline mode will give you a brief glimpse of what appears to be a new multiplayer mode in the game. It’s rumored to be named “Last Spartan Standing,” and it’s a cross between a Gun Game and a Free-for-All game played on Big Team Battle maps, with players obtaining improved weaponry as their Personal Score climbs in an attempt to be the last player standing at the end of around.
343 Industries has already stated that additional multiplayer modes will be introduced in Halo Infinite’s second season, although it is unclear whether or not they will include Last Spartan Standing in the mix. Reports suggest that is not the only new multiplayer mode for the shooter that will be introduced in the near future. According to reports, the Halo Infinite support team Certain Affinity is also working on a more “newcomer-friendly” version of the game.
