On the day of its release, Cyberpunk 2077 did not have the quality that the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had accustomed us to and promised us. The studio took on the demanding challenge of saving the game, for which a lot of money was spent.
Yesterday, CD Projekt confirmed the results of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty , and also announced work on a series or film with actors . The company puts great hope in the success of the brand, which is why it was decided to spend a lot of money to make the adventure with Night City stand on its feet.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is an extremely impressive and the only addition to the V adventure, the production of which cost PLN 275 million (~ USD 63 million), and CD Projekt RED allocated PLN 95 million (~ USD 21 million) to promote the item. A total of approximately $84 million was allocated not only to create the expansion, but also to encourage players to buy it – some studios dream of having such a budget to create a full-fledged game, but here we are only dealing with an additional part of the story.
This is not the end of the interesting data shared by CD Projekt – the company spent PLN 178 million (~ $40 million) on porting the game to the current generation and developing the 2.0 update. This huge amount is clear proof that developing a production, or even an update, is very expensive these days.
To sum up the above numbers, CD Projekt invested nearly $125 million to repair the image (update 2.0, next-gen update, expansion) of Cyberpunk 2077, so that more and more people will buy the game in the coming years.
The producer and publisher is confident of the success of the main title and the expansion, already noticing an increase in popularity among players who eagerly buy Cyberpunk 2077 and the expansion. The Polish company can currently focus on its next projects (The Witcher 4, the new Cyberpunk, The Witcher Remake), while being sure that other recipients will choose the adventure in Night City.
