Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, is aware that fans “truly desire” The Last of Us Part 3, but the company is occupied with its standalone multiplayer game that is based in the same universe in the interim. It’s “larger than any of our single-player games” and, in some ways, even greater. Druckmann said that players would learn “far more about” the gameplay plot later this year but he would not elaborate.
He revealed that it is Naughty Dog’s “next big title” on the Kinda Funny spoilercast for HBO‘s The Last of Us (obviously wary of spoilers). Since that Druckmann is not the primary writer nor the director, it’s much more intriguing for him.
“What the team has created is amazing. Because it was created by other people than I would, it differs greatly from what I would do, yet this excites me. the opportunity to see how other people play in this world and assume leadership positions. I’m very excited to be able to display it. While Uncharted and The Last of Us veterans Vinit Agarwal, Joseph Pettinati, and Anthony Newman lead the team, Druckmann will play more of a producer role.
Even before The Last of Us Part 2 was released, Naughty Dog was working on the project. The studio’s “most ambitious” endeavor to date, it will further broaden the world of the series. In the upcoming months, keep an eye out for further information.
