Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a prequel game to the Like a Dragon (also known as Yakuza) series, sold over 123,000 copies in its first week of release in Japan.
It was the best-selling game of the week on PS5 and PS4, even though it’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder holds the lead, having sold 65,000 copies.
However, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name on PS5 sold 63,000 physical copies, and on PS4 slightly less – 60,000 copies. In total, on Sony consoles, this result amounted to 123,000 copies sold. It’s a huge success.
The game tells the story of Kiryu Kazuma, the main character of previous games in the series, who, after the events of Like a Dragon 6, hides under a false name and works as an agent of a secret organization. The game combines action and narrative elements, offering both Yakuza-style combat and Agent-style espionage missions. The game is also an important link in the history of the series, connecting Like a Dragon 6 and the upcoming Like a Dragon 8.
