Overwatch 2 by Blizzard Entertainment recently courted fierce controversy when it dropped its PvE-focused Hero Mode and Talent Trees. It does, however, feature three Story Missions and a co-op Event Mission coming in Season 6: Invasion later this year. The development team addressed the content and showed gameplay and cutscenes from it in a recent livestream.
The Story Missions are held in Toronto, Gothenburg, and Rio de Janeiro. Gothenburg is intriguing because it depicts Brigitte engaged in combat as a massive monster from the Null Sector falls from the sky and causes destruction. There is also the hint of a super-weapon developed by Torbjorn that might change the course of events. The co-op Event Missions can either stick to the official plot or deviate from it.
Tracer fights to save her friend in the first Event Mission, “Underworld,” which takes place in King’s Row’s uncharted territory. These missions come in a variety of difficulty and are advertised as having a high replay value.
On August 10, Overwatch 2 Season 6 will launch, but the Invasion Story Missions—permanent additions to the game—will cost you at least $15.
