After Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay debut, Insomniac Games revealed more details on the PS5 exclusive on the PlayStation Blog. Players will explore Queens’ East River.
The L1 button controls Peter’s new Symbiote powers. Dodge, but parry certain attacks. New takedowns and battle animations reveal “a much more impulsive Peter Parker.” Insomniac teases “delving into Peter’s personal relationship with the Symbiote and how it affects those closest to him.”
Another new skill, Web Wings, lets Peter or Miles fly through the city. The PS5’s SSD lets you stream assets faster in wind tunnels. Dual takedowns and the Web Line for zip lines have been included for stealth and combat gamers.
Web Grabbers unite enemies. Chain Lighting lets Miles chain his Venom Blast to adjacent adversaries and Thunder Burst for a devastating ground pound. Each hero has a unique skill tree, yet they share upgrades. They train and swap gadgets.
Shadows and reflections are “dramatic,” textures are better, and particle density is higher. 3D audio and DualSense support.
Insomniac promises a “final release date soon.” Stay tuned for pre-orders and editions. PS5 gets Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 this fall.
