The most recent State of Play presentation was, to say the very least, one that was packed, with huge headliners such as Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, and many more stealing the show and turning heads. However, despite the fact that the PlayStation side of things was, of course, the primary focus of the show, Sony’s continued efforts in the PC space took up a part of the showcase as well, with Sony announcing that both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be coming to PC. This was one of the highlights of the showcase.
At the same time, Sony has also published updated sales numbers on the games—well, sort of. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the Spider-Man video game that was developed by Insomniac has now sold more than 33 million copies all over the world. This information is accurate as of the 15th of May in 2022.
Since we have not been given the individual sales data for each game, we are unable to determine how that total figure should be distributed across the two games. When November 2020 rolled around, more than 20 million copies of Marvel’s Spider-Man had been sold all over the world, while Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales had sold 6.5 million copies all over the world by July of the previous year.
The second installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man is currently being developed for the PlayStation 5 platform, and its release is anticipated to take place sometime in 2023.
