More details have emerged on the widespread firings that took place at Microsoft. The editors of Bloomberg have reported that another round of layoffs has begun at the American firm. This time around, an exceptionally large number of individuals will be leaving their employment in the departments that are responsible for HoloLens (augmented reality headsets) and Surface. It is likely that a very plainly declining demand for personal computers is the cause of the layoffs that have occurred in the laptop and tablet sector. In recent weeks, Dell has also acknowledged having similar challenges, and the company has indicated that it will be cutting a significant number of jobs as a result of declining PC sales.

According to Bloomberg, there have also been significant layoffs in marketing departments, as well as those responsible for the Xbox Gaming Ecosystem. Last week, Phil Spencer allegedly sent an email to employees to fill them in on the situation and let them know exactly what was going on. According to Bloomberg, there was a request from Phil Spencer that employees help each other during this difficult period, and there was also a declaration that Microsoft will provide people who are made redundant with the easiest possible transition to a new job in other companies. Both of these events were reported in the news.

Already in January, upsetting information regarding significant layoffs at Microsoft’s development divisions was beginning to surface. A number of workers who were employed at Bethesda Game Studios and dozens of workers who were responsible for a variety of projects, including Halo Infinite, were let go by the firm. The shooter, which has been the subject of a significant amount of criticism, is still being worked on. Over the past several days, 343 Industries has been rolling out a new playlist that has maps that were designed by the players themselves.
