NetherRealm Studios has not changed its plans – the latest fighting game has been enriched with a paid Halloween DLC introducing Fatality. Players are still leaving no stone unturned on the creators’ decision, announcing a boycott of the expansion and even the entire production.
Last week, we reported on a major stir regarding Mortal Kombat 1 , which concerned the idea of releasing a paid Fatality. Although this type of strategy is nothing new in the case of NetherRealm Studios projects, part of the community did not hesitate to express their dissatisfaction.
The creators did not change their mind, so a paid Fatality was added to the game – a single animation costs 1,200 Dragon Crystals. For example, on PlayStation Store we can buy 1,250 currency for PLN 45, and considering that we only get one finisher, the amount is not the smallest.
A certain group of recipients criticize the studio and Mortal Kombat 1 even more strongly, pointing out that the fighting game has already been a considerable expense since its debut (we pay PLN 339 for the standard edition, while the Premium Edition costs PLN 449), while a series of new warriors has already been announced, and new Fatals is expensive. This is strongly opposed by some customers.
The community encourages boycotting the expansion and production, but despite considerable outrage, it is not known whether the action will bring the intended effect and how it will ultimately affect Mortal Kombat 1 and the studio’s subsequent decisions.
If you are curious about what the Halloween finisher looks like, here are some gameplay fragments. The whole thing looks good, but is it worth paying almost PLN 45 for one animation?
