While Blizzard is busy getting Diablo IV ready for release, Blizzard’s competitor Grinding Gear Games has been hard at work improving Path of Exile by adding so much new content that the game has surpassed its previous popularity record.
As a result of the free-to-play business model and the many years of support they have received, older works are currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity. They provide a great deal of engaging content. Following the new benchmarks set by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, it is now time for Path of Exile, which, as a result of the recent upgrade to Path of Exile: Crucible, has garnered tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of new players.
According to the official Twitter page for Path of Exile, the GGG title reached a height of 321,000 players at one point in time. This is an increase of over 50,000 players compared to the game’s prior results. It’s interesting to note that as much as 66% of them were on Steam, given that at its height, there were as many as 211,000 users using this platform to play games. The remaining portion is distributed to the Epic Games Store, the GGG launcher, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox.
Path of Exile: Crucible hit a new record of 321,180 concurrent players, beating our previous record by over 50,000 concurrent players.
