The premiere of Payday 3 is giving many shooter fans a headache. The developers themselves are also struggling with problems, as they admit that they do not know exactly what lies at the root of the problems with matchmaking in the game.
The developers of Payday 3 were surprised by poor matchmaking in their latest work. Starbreeze explains itself as follows due to the multitude of problems related to the operation of servers:
Payday 3‘s matchmaking infrastructure is not performing as we previously tested and expected. Player search software encountered an unforeseen bug that prevented it from handling the massive influx of players. We are currently rolling out a new version of the matchmaking software to all regions, which has already led to improved performance, but a software update from a partner on Sunday has once again introduced instability to players’ matchmaking infrastructure. Our partner continues to work on improving and stabilizing the Payday 3 network system.
The issue in question did not occur during the beta testing or early access period due to the nature of rapid user influx and load balancing. Starbreeze is currently considering all options for action. In the short term, our focus is on providing players with the best possible experience. In the longer term, it is possible to change our partner in the field of matchmaking services and reduce Payday 3‘s dependence on the functioning of online services,” said the game’s lead producer Andreas Penninger.
In another announcement presented on Twitch, the Starbreeze team stated that they do not know when the situation with the servers will return to normal.
“When will the servers be fixed? Unfortunately, this is something we don’t know. We are working on improving stability. We have already achieved some success in this area, but it is still too early to say that it has been fixed permanently,” said a developer from Starbreeze studio .
In a previous announcement, the Payday 3 development team apologized for problems with the game’s servers. The next major patch is scheduled to be published on October 5.
