Arc System Works and Atlus have launched a new beta for the PC version of the fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. This beta adds rollback netcode to the game’s multiplayer mode, which has been a long-awaited feature. Below is the teaser trailer for the new movie, so make sure you check it out!
Rollback netcode is a method of interpreting inputs between players in a multiplayer match that enables predictive responses and the ability to rollback—hence the name—any action that might conflict with what players actually did. In other words, rollback netcode is essentially a method of interpreting what players are doing to each other.
When it comes to playing multiplayer fighting games over large distances online, rollback netcode is typically considered to be the superior method. This is because delay-based netcodes, which are more commonly used, end up feeling quite bad to play due to their nature of slowing down the game and causing input delays. Rollback netcode, on the other hand, does not have these characteristics.
The PC version of the update is currently available as a beta, and players can participate in it by going into the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax properties on Steam, entering the beta access code “p4auopenbeta03,” and selecting open beta 3 from the drop-down menu of available betas. This is how players can get access to the beta version of the update for the PC.
Currently, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax may be played on personal computers, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
