NVIDIA and CD Projekt RED collaborate closely to enhance PC gaming. The planned update’s release date was confirmed at the Game Developers Conference after developers revealed a special Overdrive mode last year.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive was only briefly showcased in January, there are numerous signs that the best is yet to come because, at GDC, the developer stated that Night City would feature path tracing, or “full ray tracing.” Players can anticipate precise light simulation.
NVIDIA claims that visual effects artists have so far utilized the technology to produce graphics for cinema and television that are “indistinguishable from reality.” However, the newest GPUs with GeForce RTX, working with NVIDIA DLSS, are to provide gamers a new quality, so game developers may now concentrate on such effects.
Path tracing, in the words of Pawe Kozowski, senior technology development engineer at NVIDIA, “can revolutionize the entire game development process.”
“Cyberpunk 2077’s Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode is a preview of the future of full ray tracing. Thanks to full ray tracing, virtually all light sources now cast physically correct, soft shadows. Natural colored lighting is reflected multiple times throughout the world of Cyberpunk 2077, creating more realistic indirect lighting and occlusion.“
Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive will be available on April 11, but of course such pleasures will be reserved only for PC players who also have the most powerful graphics cards from NVIDIA.
