Rockstar games are strange because they are full of secrets that you wouldn’t expect to find. That’s why we were surprised to find out, about 8 years after GTA V came out, that the company hired a real gangster to help make the game.
When Rockstar decided to make GTA V, it thought about realism and how to make its project as real as possible. Since the series was mostly about gangsters, Rockstar wanted to bring the player closer to this idea to make it feel more real.
Lazlow, a contributing writer and talk show host who is also known as the DJ in the game, said the following things on WGN:
We brought these guys in to record the gang’s personalities.
There is nothing worse than that, so we told the real gangster just go find the real scary guys and say “Could you come here please?”
Rockstar has recruited someone to find the criminals, including “Salvadorian gangsters with amazing tattoos, one of whom got out of prison the day before”.
This allowed the game to get closer to reality than anything else, with actors often given freedom of action, so they would look at the lines and say, I’m not going to say that, we let them do whatever they wanted.
This information may be very shocking, but it also gives you a simple look at how Rockstar thinks about making games. If these ideas were used to make the current game, what kind of crazy ideas will Rockstar put in GTA 6?
