The inventory clutter that many Diablo 4 players experience will be lessened, according to Blizzard, especially as players progress through the game and begin interacting with more endgame systems. Game director Joe Shely discussed ideas to assist players by altering the way gems function in the game at a livestreamed session dubbed Campfire Chat.
Gems come in a variety of colors and grades, and this can result in a large inventory footprint, according to Shely.
Players frequently find themselves picking up different gems of variable quality, which may subsequently be upgraded and socketed into their gear, which is one of the main reasons inventories pile up. Gems frequently have the ability to occupy the largest amount of space during any dungeon run.
According to Shely, Blizzard is considering modifying how players initially obtain gems and how they are stored by removing them from the inventory and putting them on the materials and currencies page.
The goal is to make Gems an available shelf in your materials or currency tab rather than an item in your inventory, according to Shely. “How that would operate is you would go to craft your Gem in the same manner that you do today and you would just use a specific amount of that material.”
Shely has not provided a timetable for when Diablo 4 will include this feature, though. In particular, given that the game is getting ready to launch its first season, the team is still concentrating on releasing minor fixes to fine-tune the game’s balance. Shely said that the developer hopes to implement this new feature in Diablo 4 during season 2, which would be in a few months.
Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S all support Diablo 4.
