Since the company began showing us more of the game one week ago, the responsibility for what has been shown off has been, at best, tepid. It is obvious that Sega has high hopes for Sonic Frontiers as it looks to bring its long-running platforming series to new heights with its upcoming installment, but the reception for what has been shown off has been tepid at best. Recently, we were given a peek at the game’s wide environment as well as some of the platforming difficulties that would be strewn across it. Now, thanks to a video that was just recently released to IGN, we have our first thorough look at the game’s combat as well.
The video clocks in at more than six minutes, making it a fairly substantial piece of media. The video showcases a large number of different enemy types, locations, and attacks; however, if you were one of the people who were a little concerned about how rough around the edges Sonic Frontiers looked in its gameplay showings, this combat demonstration is not likely to allay any of your concerns. In any case, I’ve included it here for your perusal.
This upcoming holiday season is when Sonic Frontiers is scheduled to be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox One Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.
