Data on both traditional and online sales in the United Kingdom has been compiled by the GSD and is now accessible for the month of September. Starfield, developed and published by Bethesda, is now the second best-selling video game of the month, coming in “narrowly” behind the launch sales of Forza Horizon 5, which is currently the fastest-selling first-party Xbox title this generation.
These are really astounding figures, especially considering that it was available on Game Pass from the very beginning. It’s interesting to note that the sci-fi role-playing game sold more copies on personal computers than on Xbox Series X/S consoles. It might be due to the popularity of the brand on the platform, or it could be due to features like mod support (even if, according to director Todd Howard, complete modding tools won’t be available until 2024).
According to Circana, it was the most successful game in terms of physical sales in the United States for the month of September, and it is now the sixth most successful game in terms of sales in the area year-to-date. Although the company has not disclosed sales figures, Bethesda has stated that the game has attracted more than 10 million players in just two weeks since its release.
