Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a new Batman-like game set in Rocksteady’s Arkham universe, has been pushed out until Spring 2023. The news was disclosed in a message from Sefton Hill, the studio’s founder, who stated the decision was difficult but that the game needed additional time in the end. It was once estimated that it will be released in 2022.
The official news comes after reports that the game might be postponed. When WarnerMedia’s chief executive officer Jason Kilar tweeted about the company’s next slate of 2022 games, Suicide Squad was curiously absent.
Suicide Squad portrays Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot as members of the eponymous government black ops task squad. When the extraterrestrial villain Brainiac’s ploy corrupts them in some way, they’re compelled to take on the Justice League’s superpowered heroes. It had previously been scheduled for release in the 2022 timeframe, but no exact date had been determined.
We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to Spring 2023. I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience. pic.twitter.com/VOSwTM6Zak

While Suicide Squad is set in Superman’s hometown of Metropolis, it is rumored to be linked to the Arkham universe, which was the setting for Rocksteady’s three Batman games. Another game, Gotham Knights, is set in the more familiar Gotham City and looks very similar to the Arkham designs, but it is set in a different universe than Arkham. The release date for that game is still slated for October 25, 2022.
