The initial leak comes from DD (through SYP), a well-known member of the Genshin Impact community. Please keep in mind that these leaks are not 100 percent accurate and should always be taken with a grain of salt, with the exception of the beta leaks, which are based straight on the game. The latter is almost never wrong, so it’s a safe bet.
According to the leaked information, the Chasm region would be divided into two halves. This indicates that the next update will only contain a portion of the Chasm region, with the remainder arriving in a subsequent version.
[Semi-reliable – Alleged!DD]
– Chasm is 2 versions, 1 map.
– 2.7 has the last new [5✰?] character(s) before 3.0.In context of QRT, this means a new male 5✰ is “expected” to appear in 3.0.
This also corroborates earlier rumors that 2.8 is a full-rerun patch. https://t.co/gG8EURfsJ6 pic.twitter.com/lrPdG2uAw7

What’s more interesting is that the leaker says that the 2.8 Update will not include any new characters. This is surprising because many people were expecting Heizou to be included in that update. It’s possible that the leaker is alluding to the fact that there will be no new 5-star characters in the update, but the former is also a possibility. This is because prior sources said that 2.8 would be a complete rerun patch.
In addition, it is indicated that the next new character will be released in version 3.0, which will follow the 2.8 Update. If miHoYo sticks to their present timeline, the 3.0 Update should be available in late July or early August. The Sumeru territory, as well as the Dendro characters, will make their debut in the game with the 3.0 Update. It shouldn’t be long until we learn more about the game’s future Dendro characters.
