In March, Team Ninja was able to launch the highly successful Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. the company announced in September that development on the historical action role-playing game Rise of the Ronin had begun. The development team that was responsible for the cult classics Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive in the past appears to have their work cut out for them. Recently, the head of the studio gave an interview to the Japanese publication Famitsu, in which he discussed some interesting intentions for the future of the studio. It seems that Team Ninja might already be working on another project at the same time.
Fumihiko Yasuda disclosed to the editorial office in Japan that his company intends to launch one new game each year. The release of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has already taken place (see our review), while the release of Rise of the Ronin has been scheduled for 2024. In this particular scenario, the next game from the studio has been in the works for some time now. The leader of the team has announced that Rise of the Ronin would be under production for a total of seven years.
For close to seven years, we have been working on the development of Rise of the Ronin. The game is scheduled to be made available sometime around 2024. In the year 2025, we hope to be in a position to release yet another title. I anticipate being in a position to provide additional information to you in the not-too-distant future.
The subject of what will happen next in the Ninja Gaiden series was one that arose naturally. Fans from every corner of the globe have been patiently awaiting any information for many years. Yasuda stated that the speculations concerning the intended reboot of the series turned out to be the consequence of a misunderstanding about what was going to happen. Yasuda believes that if Team Ninja releases one game every year, it will be able to experience significant growth. A scenario in which the team would only release one title once every few years, as stated by the developer, will not give the team the opportunity to stretch its wings and grow. And despite this, we continue to hold out hope that Ryu Hayabusa will one day return. How about you?
