Square Enix just recently made the announcement that their upcoming tactical role-playing game, The DioField Chronicle, will be available for consoles in Japan on September 22. The date of the game’s release in the West has not yet been established; nonetheless, Wasyagana TV hosts Mafia Kajita and Yuichi Nakamura demonstrated a great deal of new gameplay on the PlayStation 5. Have a look at it down below.
The mercenary group known as Blue Fox serves as the primary protagonists in this tale. The world of medieval fantasy is mired in conflict, and the group is doing everything in its power to stay alive. As can be seen in the image below, the battles take place in real-time with pauses. Real-time movement is possible for units, and when they get close enough to an enemy, they will immediately attack. It is possible for other units to be positioned behind enemies in order to score Back Attacks and do additional damage. Additionally, there are a variety of skills that can be used to stun, bind, and attack many foes at once. The visual aesthetic is reminiscent of dioramas, and the cutscenes have a crisp appearance.
The DioField Chronicle is currently being developed for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Keep an eye out for further information over the next several days.
