Sony and Activision entered into great cooperation in 2015 to jointly promote subsequent Call of Duty installments. Players on PlayStation consoles could count on a number of benefits when playing the American corporation’s shooters on PS4 and PS5.
Today, Microsoft officially completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard , but Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, this year’s installment of Call of Duty, will still be promoted by PlayStation. All thanks to the contract signed 9 years ago.
However, a lot will change next year, because Sony and Activision Blizzard did not extend the contract and from 2024, subsequent Call of Duty installments will offer the same content on all platforms – without any benefits for, for example, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the last Call of Duty title created in cooperation with Sony PlayStation.
The PlayStation x Call of Duty deal began in 2015 with Black Ops III.
It will end in 2024 – 9 years of partnership.

Players on PlayStation consoles were the first to take part in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 testing last week, and they will receive additional, exclusive content in the Activision game later this year.
From next year, all customers will be treated on the same terms, so in this case all users will take part in the tests and will receive the same operators.
