After the recent announcement of MechWarrior 5: Clans, it looks like much more good things are coming to fans of the BatteTech universe. The head of Xbox himself emphasizes that he is interested in the development of this IP.
After the announcement of MechWarrior 5: Clans last week, Phil Spencer himself reminded us about the BattleTech universe (or rather the MechWarrior and MechAssault series). When asked what brand he would like to restore to its former glory, the head of Xbox replied that he was particularly interested in “returning to the MechAssault and MechWarrior space.”
“I’ve always wanted us to get back into the MechAssault and MechWarrior space. I think we can do a lot in that space. The franchise was ahead of its time in some respects. We don’t have specific plans yet, so it’s not really a leak. But it’s an area that I’d like to pay attention,” Phil Spencer said.
Last week, Piranha revealed information about MechWarrior 5: Clans, which will be a standalone production (on consoles and PC). Of course, this is only a prelude to MechWarrior 6, which is almost certainly already in development. Perhaps Microsoft and Xbox will take patronage over this project. After the success of Armored Core 6, it can be said that the topic of mech battles is becoming popular again, so Phil Spencer may see room for the development of the Xbox brand in this area.
(FYI) In an Interview at #XboxTGS, Phil Spencer was asked what IP he would like to see revived
