After the launch of “The Last of Us,” many players in the UK took the decision to play through the previous two games in the series, The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us. To everyone’s surprise, however, it turned out that productions with digital distribution were extremely popular. Players dive into the PlayStation Store in search of titles with great anticipation.
Gamesindustry.biz reported very successful sales of physical copies of Naughty Dog games at the start of this week. These sales were certainly influenced by the launch of the series “The Last of Us.” In this particular instance, Christopher Dring obtained data from digital distribution, and the results showed that both products generated an even bigger spike in interest.
The Last of Us Part I achieved a 305% rise in sales as compared to the previous week, making it the 11th most purchased game in the UK (through digital distribution), while The Last of Us Remastered achieved a 337% gain in sales, propelling the game to the 16th position.
There is no doubt in our minds that the launch of “The Last of Us” on HBO and HBO Max was the catalyst for the increased interest in adventure games that were made by Naughty Dog. It is not without cause that the Japanese made the decision to invest a significant amount of money to transmit their heroes to small and large screens; the series is immensely popular, and this popularity translates into the sale of Sony’s products.
Now the digital data is in for the UK, we can see that The Last of Us Part 1 sales actually grew 305% week-on-week and is at No.11 in the charts. Last of Us Remastered was up 337%, and is at No.16
