The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been in development for quite some time, but after several years of anticipation and a few setbacks here and there, Daedalic Entertainment’s stealth action-adventure game is now getting close to being released. Its promise of a plot that focuses exclusively on the interesting character of Smeagol is, of course, one of the game’s larger draws; yet, how meaty can players anticipate the experience to be?
Harald Riegler, the producer of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, provided an answer to this very topic. In the interview, he revealed that individuals who play the game at a “relaxed” pace and participate in its exploration, as well as its optional conversation, will be able to get approximately 20 hours out of the game.
Riegler estimates that a leisurely session of the game, during which the intricately constructed locales may be explored and dialogue can be absorbed, will take approximately twenty hours. “Avid adventure players will be able to finish the game faster, but we advise everyone to take their time and really breathe in the air of Middle-earth.”
The fact that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is planned to be a game with a linear design makes a runtime of approximately 20 hours seems like a reasonable estimate; however, how the game makes use of that time and what degree of quality it provides with its main and extra material will, of course, be what many people will be more focused on.
On May 25, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. Stay tuned for the completion of our conversation with Riegler, which will be posted on our site very soon.
