The creators of The Witcher Remake can now fully focus on the expected refresh for CD Projekt RED, as The Thaumaturge is slowly heading to the market. The production will soon be available on the first platform.
Fool’s Theory has been noticed and appreciated by players for developing the intriguing Seven: The Days Long Gone, but we can confidently suspect that the team has even more interesting times ahead. The developers were tasked with creating a complete refresh of Geralt’s first adventure – however, before we see the first materials from the project, we can get acquainted with the original RPG developed by the Polish studio.
On December 5, The Thaumaturge will debut on personal computers, while in early 2024 it will premiere on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As part of Steam Next Fest, players can get acquainted with a designated fragment of the title – a demo containing the prologue and introducing Wiktor’s story will be available until October 16.
After a long separation, Wiktor returns to Warsaw, which seems both familiar and undiscovered to him, after all, a lot has changed during his absence. The year is 1905. The city is teeming with life, but it is also plagued by crime and the conflicting interests of a multicultural society. With the Salutors – demons that prey on human flaws and can only be controlled by thaumaturges – street thugs have no chance, like others who resort to violence, to argue their point. However, the gift or curse – depending on your point of view – that the Salutors bestow on their master goes beyond support in battle.
The reveal of the release date was celebrated with the publication of a trailer made of gameplay fragments, in which The Thaumaturge looks quite promising.
A debut in December may turn out to be quite a good decision, because although there are plenty of strong premieres at the end of the year, the new production may gain a certain audience.
