Elden Ring is a masterpiece, a true magnum opus of Hidetaka Miyazaki. It’s a game that you just have to play the first time in a “clean”, unmodified form, as designed by the members of the FromSoftware studio. However, after completing this Japanese adventure for the first time, it is worth reaching for PC mods that can significantly enrich and diversify the gameplay. Here is a list of the strongest achievements of fans in this category.
10. Increase Animation DistanceMod
A simple mod that has a big impact on the overall graphical quality of Elden Ring. The rework from TechieW makes the animations of the characters in the background become smooth and are no longer very simplified, as in the normal release of the game. Below you can see how much difference this simple modification makes.
9. Photorealistic Lands Between ReShade
A package of two reshades from TheMercsAsssassin, ensuring that the image is changed into a more vivid color option or – if you prefer – into a much more subdued, “photorealistic” vision. In both cases we get very neatly adjusted effects of chromatic aberration, distortion of film lenses, etc.
8. Texture Improvement Project
A lot of people are not entirely satisfied with the quality of the textures in Elden Ring. If you belong to this group, be sure to download the Texture Improvement Project, a project that significantly improves the appearance of surfaces on 3D objects in FromSoftware. At the moment, the mod embellishes over 7,000 textures and is available in 2K and 4K (depending on how much VRAM you have).
7. Elden ReShade – HDR FX
The author of HDR fixes in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Horizon Zero Dawn created an equally successful mod in this style for Elden Ring. Mod Vanguards1776 improves the lighting and HDR display in the FromSoftware team’s game.
6. Clever’s Moveset Modpack
Clever’s great bundle of 14 smaller mods brings new moves/attacks to the Elden Ring, including for heroes wielding two swords, for Earthbender, a “lava surfer” character or for fans of the Marais Executioner sword, whose animation set has been redesigned here.
5. Item and Enemy Randomizer
A great mod for completing the second Elden Ring. Thanks to the Item and Enemy Randomizer, we can change the position of all items in the game, which means that the best items from the endgame phase can be “drawn” at the very beginning of the adventure (it all depends on our luck). This is not the end of surprising events, because the said remake also allows you to turn on randomness in the order in which we will meet opponents.
4. Grand Merchant
Grand Merchant is a mod from the category: pleasant and useful. With this simple modification, the merchant Kale offers all the items available in the Elden Ring. This, of course, disturbs the balance of the game, but it can be an interesting option for someone who has already completed Miyazaki’s work once and wants to experiment a bit with the equipment.
3. ERR – Elden Ring Reforged
The massive Kirnif mod improves most of the gameplay aspects of the Elden Ring. The rework not so much makes the gameplay easier/more difficult, but it aims to diversify the combat, making it even more interesting. Therefore, the author took care of new block mechanics and new Fortunes abilities, introduced personalized camera shots in boss fights and modified the Artificial Intelligence of the adversaries, who start using attacks that are not normally used in the game. Reworked, more precise enemy hitboxes are also a great option.
2. Elden Ring Reborn
1200 hours of Halcyon’s work have resulted in an incredibly refined mod that affects virtually the entire Elden Ring – from the places where enemies appear to the topography of individual locations. In addition to such changes, the author of Elden Ring took care of e.g. for changing the balance of the power of all spells (which should please mages, because their power has been significantly increased), the combat potential of equipment and much more. And this is still a project that did not appear in the final version and is still being developed. A must-have for fans of Elden Ring, who count on a fresh experience after the first playthrough of the title.
1. Seamless Co-op
Seamless Co-op modifies the multiplayer aspects of Elden Ring, allowing you to play together with your friends throughout the adventure, without the usual game limitations. It’s a fantastic thing that allows you to experience FromSoftware’s work in a new, full-scale cooperative way. The author of the mod even made sure that the progress during these multiplayer sessions is counted for each person in the session, so we can transfer them to our state of the world in Elden Ring.
