Ubisoft has recently experienced all the ups and downs in the gaming business. It hasn’t had a significant release in months, shelved a number of initiatives, and suffered significant losses. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Skull and Bones, The Crew Motorfest, XDefiant, and a “large” undisclosed game are all coming out before April 2024, so there is still some chance.
This game is Ubisoft Massive’s undisclosed Star Wars title, according to sources familiar with Ubisoft’s plans who talked with Kotaku’s Ethan Gach. It purportedly involves interplanetary space travel, is internally known as Project Helix, and is run by The Division series’ creative director Julian Gerighty. Unfortunately, according to two sources, the project hasn’t advanced well.
Many are apparently holding out hope that it will be Ubisoft’s first successful blockbuster game outside of Assassin’s Creed. The release of it this fiscal year, which runs from April 1 to March 31, 2025, may prove to be overly ambitious, and it may move to the fiscal year 2025, which begins on April 1 and concludes on March 31, 2025. It wouldn’t be the first time a release date of 2025 had been suggested.
A spokeswoman for Ubisoft simply responded, “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation.” Perhaps we’ll discover if it’s coming this fiscal year and the actual name with Ubisoft Forward on June 12. In the interim, keep reading.
