Xbox players can check out Valheim as of yesterday. The game lets players from different platforms compete against each other, so survival game fans on consoles and PCs can meet on the same server. But we shouldn’t expect anyone from Sony or Nintendo to join the game any time soon.
When Valheim was at its best, there were more than 500,000 brave people on the servers. Data from SteamDB shows that over 36,000 people fought for survival in the procedurally generated Nordic world at the most convenient time in the last 24 hours. The result wasn’t one of the best, but it’s clear that the title has already won over a lot of fans.
Iron Gate has made a deal with Microsoft so that its survival game will be available on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass. This means that the game won’t be coming out soon on other consoles. On the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast, senior developer Jonathan Smrs said that the team is not currently working on a release for other consoles:
“Right now we’re just focusing on Xbox, but you never know.”
We don’t know what kind of exclusivity the team has chosen, but the most important thing to remember is that Iron Gate is a small studio that is working on both the PC and Xbox versions. The project is still in Early Access, so the most important thing for the people working on it is to make all editions better. Valheim isn’t coming to any other platforms soon.
