The protagonist of the upcoming role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been revealed by The Chinese Room. Players will travel over the Seattle version of the World of Darkness in the role of an Elder Kindred named Phyre.
More information about the protagonist, who was initially transformed into a vampire in the early 17th century, was revealed by story designer Arone Le Bray in an interview with IGN.
Phyre is a character with a unique past, but players may still choose a lot about them, including their gender, clan, behavior, and attire, among other things.
Phyre will also have a very special friend named Fabioen, who appears to be living inside of Phyre for an unknown cause. The player will get guidance from Fabien, a thinblood vampire, while exploring Seattle. The player’s interactions with Phyre and Fabien will determine their connection. It is also important to note that Phyre is the only one who can hear Fabien.
Le Bray remarked, “Fabien is here to help be that cipher for you a little bit, even though it’s not your character, even if you don’t understand much of what is going on at the beginning.” “Phyre and you, the player, are still receiving that information together.”
Le Bray also discusses a few of the decisions that Phyre will have to make as they progress through the game. It appears that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will not force players into a good or evil storyline, but rather give them the freedom to explore the game any way they see fit.
Le Brey remarked, “We didn’t want it to feel like you can only be a nice person or a jerk.” Thus, one of the first things we considered was how to give the impression that Phyre is in charge at all times. And we examined the many options you could have at a given time to still get the desired result. How would you go about achieving that result? Furthermore, even though I might like a particular result, another person using Phyre might not share my preferences or even care that I behave in a particular way.
A significant portion of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will go into giving players a challenging story to explore. Players will go through Seattle’s sordid underworld, which is also home to legendary creatures like werewolves and vampires.
One of the enjoyable aspects of Vampire: The Masquerade is examining the real-world components and wondering why they were included. Le Bray stated: “Did that event occur because historical accounts claim it did for this reason? Or was there another explanation for why this occurred, particularly in Seattle? Lou appeared during a highly difficult period in the past, so was there something Kindred-related there, or was this just mortal? What does that mean for Phyre now, and how much did those two worlds affect and melt together? That’s where most of the enjoyment is.
Although a release date for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is not yet known, it is expected to launch in the fall of 2024 for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
