You could already call XDefiant a recent sensation. More people watch Ubisoft’s shooter, which is now in beta testing, on Twitch than Warzone 2 does, with performance comparable to Fortnite. The game will receive substantial support, the French publisher adds.
Playtests for XDefiant will continue until April 23, 2023. Ubisoft has already stated that a highly developed game support will be available following them and the release of the FPP shooter. Patrick “Aches” Price, a Ubisoft employee working on XDefiant, said in an interview with the editors of MP1st that this project won’t be finished for a while.
“Something that’s very important to us is that it’s not a one-shot, that the work won’t end here after the game is released. XDefiant is a project we plan to support for many years, constantly adding fresh content. a pillar of our production – that we are working on something that will be constantly developed and improved, and we want to focus on it for as long as possible, ” said Patrick Price.
Ubisoft announced a few days ago that a new season of challenges and attractions will be published every 3 months in XDefiant . With each such major update, we will get new characters, fresh maps, weapons, cosmetics and events. There will also be paid Battle Passes every 3 months, which is an understandable publishing move given the free-to-play business model. Ubisoft also guaranteed us that the game will never feature pay-to-win themes.
It’s worth checking out XDefiant in action on XSX and PS5 after the game received patches to improve the network code. The extremely popular title (with better results on Twitch than Warzone 2) had big problems with online functionality in the first days of testing, but now the situation has improved.
