Not only is Resident Evil 4 (Remake) one of the most anticipated games for the month of March, but it is also likely one of the most anticipated games for the entirety of the first half of the year. The high level of interest is due, in part, to the cult popularity of the brand in and of itself, but it is also attributable to the success of the franchise’s two most recent iterations, Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020). Following a hiatus of several years during which there were no remakes, we are once again anticipated to receive the greatest possible quality.
Yet, this time around, it has the potential to be much more exciting than it was before. At the very least, we are able to draw such a conclusion based on an interview that the producer of the game, Yokiashi Hirobayashi, gave to Play Magazine. He disclosed there that the entire team is attempting to strike a balance between remaining true to the source material and introducing new components for each and every audience. On the occasion of the premiere, none of the participants will be able to know for certain what they will receive:
We want the game to feel fresh and familiar at the same time. Our goal is to “betray” your expectations in the best possible way – of course, respecting the atmosphere of the original game.
The controls are similar to those of the recent Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, and we’ve also worked to recreate the feel of the original by assembling elements like level design and enemy behavior from the ground up. It took a lot of trial and error to get the balance right, just like the original game.
I cannot deny the fact that it appears to be incredibly reassuring and… mysterious in its own particular way. In spite of this, Capcom has already demonstrated that it is prudent to place one’s faith in the company when it comes to the revitalization of older works, so one should not be very concerned about the matter. You may start counting down the days now because there are only twenty days left until the premiere, and then you can see for yourself what the developers have managed to whip up for this year’s installment of Resident Evil 4.
