NVIDIA does not rest on its laurels. During GDC 2023, the company showcased its most recent accomplishments in the realm of ray tracing technology.
To begin, in conjunction with the currently running GDC 2023, NVIDIA has released tools for game developers in the form of a software development kit (SDK) that will allow Path Tracing to be incorporated into games.
“Our RTX Path Tracing SDK painstakingly recreates the physics of all light sources in a scene in order to provide an image that is as similar as possible to what the human eye perceives when it looks out into the actual world.
The RTX Path Tracing Software Development Kit (SDK) is the result of decades of research conducted by NVIDIA, and it offers support for the following tools and features:
- DLSS 3
- RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI)
- NVIDIA Real-Time Denoisers (NRD)
- Opacity Micro-Map (OMM)
- Shader execution reordering (SER)
In the video that can be found below, which was produced on the occasion of GDC 2023, the firm demonstrated the capabilities of its path-tracing tools.
The video game Cyberpunk 2077 was selected to serve as a showcase for the capabilities of this technology. In order to implement RTX Path Tracing into the Polish game, NVIDIA is presently collaborating with CDP RED. NVIDIA will display the improved lighting quality in Cyberpunk 2077 that was made possible by real-time path tracing during the presentations that will take place on April 22 and 23, 2023. These presentations will take place in 2023.
