Having gone months without saying anything about the game’s status, Respawn Entertainment soft-launched Apex Legends Mobile in select regions a couple of months ago, and started shortly after that the game would be released in its entirety globally later this summer. Now, the developer has revealed that Apex Legends Mobile will be released on Android and iOS devices later in the month of April.
According to Jordan Patz, mobile design director at Respawn Entertainment, who spoke at a recent Apex Legends developer panel that VGC attended, the same has been confirmed. “I’m thrilled to finally announce that Apex Legends Mobile will be available to all players globally starting in May,” Patz stated in a statement.
In addition to a dedicated team at Respawn, Apex Legends Mobile is being developed in collaboration with Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, which is best known for making PUBG Mobile, among other things.
It will be free to play, just like the console and PC versions of Apex Legends, but it will have its own battle pass, collectible cosmetics, and exclusive unlocks that are not available on the console or PC versions. At this time, the game does not support cross-platform play. In addition to new material, it will have ten Legends, including fan favorites such as Wraith and Bloodhound, as well as well-known places such as World’s Edge and Kings Canyon, when it first goes live.
