Assassin’s Creed Mirage is another game after Starfield that has recently been criticized for the “cinematic” aspects of the image. Ubisoft is criticized for applying a chromatic aberration filter that cannot be turned off in the options.
The chromatic aberration effect cannot be turned off normally in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which is why one of the most popular mods on PC right now is a mod that allows you to get rid of this option. Unfortunately, we don’t have this option on consoles.
Information appeared on the game’s official Discord that Ubisoft is aware of the problem. Perhaps in one of the next updates it will be possible to turn off the chromatic aberration effect.
Chromatic aberrations are, in a nutshell, the appearance of false colors at the margins of objects that contrast in photographic lenses and other optical equipment. This is a negative phenomenon that primarily affects photo and video creators with less expensive equipment. Sadly, game developers have known for many years that chromatic aberrations are desirable. This effect is extremely potent in AC: Mirage, causing some individuals to experience eye and head discomfort and giving the impression of a soft, blurry image.
Starfield, which features very low contrast in a number of its environments, is a game that has recently used controversial image manipulation.
