It has been decided that Evil West will not make its premiere at the end of September. The developers feel they need more time, therefore they’ve opted to push back the launch of the new IP. Unfortunately, this means that the production of Flying Wild Hog will debut at a particularly challenging period: just after the launch of God of War Ragnarok and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet.
The 20th of September was going to be the day that we played Evil West, but Flying Wild Hog needs a little bit more time to perfect the game. It is understandable because the Polish studio wants to deliver a brand new intellectual property (IP), which needs to touch the market in the highest quality possible, but… One might get the idea that the publisher has made the decision to let the adventure be consumed by the other games in the genre.
Skull & Bones will be released on November 8, God of War Ragnarok will be released on November 9, Tactics Ogre: Reborn will be released on November 11, Valkyrie Elysium will be released on November 11, Company of Heroes 3 will be released on November 17, Goat Simulator 3 will be released on November 17, and Pokémon Scarlet / Violet will be released on November 18, but Evil West will not be released until November 22.
It would be difficult to pick a worse time for the launch of a new brand in 2022 from a smaller developer. This is due to the fact that one of the most popular games of 2022 for all PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners is making its debut in the area at the same time as an entirely new generation of Pokemon. As you are probably aware, both brands enjoy an enormous amount of popularity.
If the team behind Evil West doesn’t have a really sound strategy, it’s going to be really challenging to compete with companies that are considerably more well-known.
