The Forspoken movie’s high budget was confirmed by the screenwriter. Given the weak sales, Allison Rymer disclosed an intriguing statement that might corroborate some issues with Square Enix.
Before the PlayStation 5 was released, Forspoken was previewed as Square Enix’s first next-generation game. Sony was keen to market the game, but it ultimately failed to garner rave reviews, and current reports indicate that the Japanese are dissatisfied with the sales. The adventure’s creator studio went out of business in the meanwhile.
Allison Rymer, one of the key screenwriters for Luminous Studios, could confirm certain issues with Square Enix; in her estimation, the development of Forspoken cost more than $100 million.

We can infer that, at least for the time being, Square Enix is unable to discuss the special revenues connected with the release of Forspoken because this is a sizable expense for a new IP that ultimately fell short of its objectives.
In comparison, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost $81 million, Gears of War 3 cost between $48 and $60 million to produce, Heavy Rain cost $52.2 million, and the first Watch Dogs cost Ubisoft over $68 million. These numbers demonstrate that Square Enix did not make any savings on the new IP.
