Yesterday was the day that Sony and SIE Santa Monica finally offered an update on God of War Ragnarok. They confirmed that the game will be available for the PS4 and PS5 in November date. Its numerous editions, including the stunning Collector’s and Jotnar Editions, were also displayed, and pre-orders will begin on the 15th of July at 7:00 AM Pacific Time.
It has been stated that a release in November has been planned for quite some time; nonetheless, the timing may cause some individuals to be apprehensive. According to a tweet by the presenter of G4TV, Indiana “Frosk” Black, “I feel like God of War on a release date in November is because they want to target the Christmas quarter and, maybe, not because that’s a fair launch date.” I hope there won’t be any hiccups and that everything will go as smoothly as planned!
In response, producer Cory Barlog shared his thoughts, saying, “I feel like we thought a lot about what date is ideal and chose the best day for the team, the game, and the fans.” Even if this isn’t an open denial of the present date trying to capitalize on the lucrative holiday season, Sony has made it clear in the past that they will put the health of the team ahead of everything else. After the initial setback, the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, stated that the publisher will not make any sacrifices to the “quality of our titles” or to “the health or the well-being of our incredible crew.”
This took place during the COVID-19 epidemic; nonetheless, one may reasonably presume that it also applies to phenomena like crunch. Naturally, SIE Santa Monica was also very supportive of actor Christopher Judge, who needed knee and back surgery in addition to hip replacements. SIE Santa Monica provided all three procedures. Despite the fact that this is alleged to have been a factor in the delay, Judge stated that the developer offered “nothing but love and support… The entertainment industry is a cesspool, yet this company, from the top down, should give us hope.
However, things appear to be going in the right direction for the time being. On November 9, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of God of War: Ragnarok will be available. Keep an eye out over the next few months for additional information and gameplay.
I feel like we thought a lot about what date is best and chose the best date for the team, the game and the fans.
