Marvel’s Avengers has been lurching from one difficulty to another almost from the day it was released, but the last several months have been especially difficult for Square Enix’s live service project. Although there has been no official comment on whether or not there are plans for more expansions (though reports imply She-Hulk is on the way), the most recent significant content update was War for Wakanda, which was released in August of last year. Even while we did receive Spider-Man in November, the half-hearted DLC for the PlayStation 4, PS5 version of the game was heavily panned by the game’s fan base.
Now, it seems that new issues are arising, and Crystal Dynamics does not appear to have the appropriate remedy at this time. Recently, the developer acknowledged the presence of an issue that is causing crashes for certain PS5 users on Twitter. The developer also said that a possible cure has been found and is currently being tested.
However, although there is currently no information on when this repair will be implemented, Crystal Dynamics has provided a workaround for players—though, perplexingly, the developer claims that employing this workaround would result in the loss of all of your progress in the Marvel’s Avengers campaign. Surely there was no need to even suggest a fix that would erase all of your campaign progress, which is a bit of a brain scratcher.
Players should keep their fingers crossed that Crystal Dynamics will provide a cure for the crashing problems soon, so that they won’t be forced to use this weird workaround. Keep an eye out for further developments in this regard.
