On May 18, PC Early Access for The Outlast Trials will be made available via Steam and the Epic Games Store, according to developer Red Barrels.

About
Red Barrels extends an invitation for you to relive numbing dread with pals. If you make it through the tests—alone or in groups—and finish the therapy, Murkoff will be content to let you go. But will you follow suit?
Story
In this Cold War-era thriller, unwitting volunteers are used by the Murkoff Corporation to test cutting-edge brainwashing and mind control techniques. Your morals will be put to the test, your endurance will be put to the test, and your sanity will be crushed in a world of mistrust, dread, and violence. All in the name of development, science, and financial gain.
Key Elements
- You are all Murkoff prisoners locked inside their facility. You can either survive alone or together. The trials can be finished solo, in a team of two, three, or four people, or all by yourself.
- Hide or Flight – In typical Outlast style, the main gameplay entails dodging opponents, hiding from them, and attempting to flee. You can use the tools Murkoff gives you to improve your stealth skills, establish escape routes, slack off on foes, and more. Yet, you will need to work hard to enhance them and earn those tools.
- Character customization: Choose your equipment, improvements, and perks according to your play preferences. Create and personalize your own trial participant. While you are receiving therapy, your cell is your home, and you are free to arrange it anyway you like.
- Investigate – You’ve been abducted by the Murkoff Corporation to undergo unethical experiments that will modify your psyche and behavior throughout the Trials. Collect documents and items that will help prove Murkoff’s malpractice against its patients.
