Quartz NFTs were initially launched by Ubisoft in December, allowing players in Ghost Recon Breakpoint to purchase (or acquire) exclusive gear in the form of NFTs (called Digits). While the game itself has stopped receiving major new updates, the service platform, according to the publisher, will continue to expand in the near future and will eventually replace the game.
Ubisoft has stated in a recent statement published on the Quartz official website that it will continue to include “Digits” in its next products. According to the announcement, gamers who purchased any Digits for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the most recent of which was launched on April 17, 2022, are thanked.
Thank you to all of the Ghost Recon Breakpoint gamers who were successful in claiming their first Digit, according to a statement. “You have acquired a piece of the game’s history and have made your stamp on it. Stay tuned for more updates with platform features and future drops coming with other titles, as the latest Digit for Ghost Recon Breakpoint was released on 3/17/2022.”
For the record, fans were not overjoyed when Ubisoft’s Quartz was announced, but many other major game publishers, including Konami, Square Enix, and other well-known names, are all looking into incorporating blockchain and cryptocurrencies into their upcoming games. Earlier this year, a Ubisoft executive stated that players simply do not comprehend the concept and benefits of NFTs, which drew the ire of the gaming community once more.
