Atlus has revealed that the action role-playing game and Musou spin-off to the Persona 5 series, Persona 5 Strikers, has sold over two million units since its debut (an increase from the 1.3 million units sold in 2021). It was initially released in February 2020 in Japan for the Nintendo Switch and PS4, and then it was released in February 2021 in the West for the same platforms as well as the PC.
This game was developed by Omega Force, and it takes place four months after the events of Persona 5. During this time, the Phantom Thieves are on vacation. Unfortunately, after meeting a rising star by the name of Alice Hiiragi, they decide to go to a Jail, which is a strange version of Tokyo that is distinct from the Palaces. The crew takes on the Monarchs and makes an effort to unravel the riddle of the Jails with the assistance of Sophia, an artificial intelligence.
The battle system in Persona 5 is based on turns, whereas the one in Strikers is real-time. Players have the ability to ambush foes, summon Persona to take advantage of elemental vulnerabilities and launch All-Out Attacks. Each character has their own set of special abilities and play styles, which may be combined in a variety of over-the-top ways.
Atlus is not finished with the Persona 5 franchise just yet; on November 17, a new spin-off titled Persona 5 Tactica will be released on the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
