The next game from the renowned Night in the Woods developer, The Glory Society: Revenant Hill, has been essentially canceled. The developer also announced via Twitter that it was pausing activities as a result of two important individuals resigning indefinitely citing “recent serious health issues.”
We are fortunate to have a crew of such high caliber. Sadly, two important members of the team have had to take a permanent leave of absence from the project due to major health difficulties. As a small staff, we all have several hats to wear. In a situation where every hat is necessary, this is the loss of several hard-to-replace hats.
“After careful consideration of finances, timelines, and the challenging challenge of redoing the whole project within those constraints, the team has chosen to kindly halt activities. This effectively marks the completion of Revenant Hill’s development.
The decision was reached “as a group,” according to the developer, and it is obvious that the team’s welfare should come first since “it is honestly more important than games.” Maybe once everything has settled down in the future, we can discuss the things we’ve created and discovered together. We want to express our gratitude to everyone who collaborated with us, encouraged us, and had faith in us in the meantime.
Revenant Hill, which followed Twigs the Cat, was being developed for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Set in 1919, her rent would need to be paid by growing and selling food, and she would have to reside next to a cemetery. Throughout the narrative, players will come across a wide variety of characters, including demons, ghosts, and witches, with the ultimate objective being to become a witch’s familiar.
Secret Lab created the conversation system, publisher Finji handled QA and marketing, and The Glory Society handled development. A Shell in the Pit handled sound design, while Priscilla Snow, who worked on Immortality and A Good Snowman is Hard to Build, was the composer.
