Fans of the long-running platforming franchise have been eagerly anticipating the launch of Sonic Frontiers, which is scheduled to take place later this year. Given that the game promises to usher in an entirely new era for the series, it should come as no surprise that these fans have been waiting for its release. In the previous weeks leading up to that launch, Sega has demonstrated a significant amount of gameplay. However, up until this point, we had not seen a significant amount of the game operating on a Switch. That is no longer the case.
Sega presented a brand new trailer for Sonic Frontiers during the most recent Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. This trailer finally demonstrated what the game will look like when played on the Switch. Let’s just put it this way: its aesthetics are not going to win any awards, but the trailer does show off plenty of glimpses of the game’s quick platforming, fighting, and numerous locations of the game’s open-world (or open zone, as Sega insists on calling it), Starfall Island setting. While this is going on, we also catch a glimpse or two of the Cyberspace levels, which feature more programmed and linear gameplay. Check out the details down below.
This holiday season, Sonic Frontiers will be available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
